

William H. Abes is a Cuban-American, award-winning director based in New York City. In 2021 he earned a BFA in Film & Television at The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD), from which he graduated with honors. In addition to comprehensive, hands-on training from industry experts, William’s SCAD experience afforded him the opportunity to collaborate with many talented students and professionals on a variety of unique projects including feature films, short films, documentaries, TV spots, and a live audience multi-cam show.

A passionate filmmaker, William embraces challenges, seeing each project as an opportunity to continue learning and mastering his craft. His most recent film, Awake, which he wrote and directed, is an intimate psychological thriller that explores heavy themes such as depression, insomnia, and forgiveness. The project was produced entirely during the COVID-19 pandemic which presented unique challenges throughout every stage of production. The film is scheduled for public release in 2023 after festivals have concluded.

In 2022, William received a Southeast Student Emmy nomination in the category of 'Best Writer' for his spec commercial "Allbirds: Walk with Nature." William is currently working on a new, personal script and plans on producing it in the future.

In addition to filmmaking, William has a passion for music and enjoys listening to his ever-growing record collection. He is a self-taught guitarist and has solved the Rubik's cube in under 20 seconds.
